Inertia (Isometrics: Exercise Without Moving!)
Video (16:00), exercise mat, leaning upholstery, dumbbell rack, A-frame poster board, and vinyl on floor. Kairos Time, TENT, Rotterdam (NL), 2014

The installation provides a space and instructional video for isometrics exercise, a technique for astronauts that requires no equipment or movement. The exercises are performed in a video that occurs in the non-space of a special–effects blue screen. The accompanying superfluous exercise area is furnished with cushions on which viewers can lean, but not exercise. In the video, the demonstrator performs the exercises—literally—in thin air. She uses belief itself as support.
